Decorated with 35 Quintal Flowers Kedarnath Dham Reopens for Devotees

Dehradun: The doors of the revered Kedarnath Dham in the Garhwal Himalayas reopened for devotees on Tuesday. The weather condition in the region has also improved, reports said. The chief temple priest, Jagadguru Rawal Bhima Shankar Ling Shivacharya, opened the portals of Kedarnath Dham.

Around 35 quintals of flowers were used to decorate the temple. Baba Kedar’s Panchmukhi Chal Vigraha Doli had reached the Dham on Monday.

Thousands of devotees were stopped en route because of snowfall and bad weather. Many of them were stopped at Bhadrakali and Vyasi. Others were asked to stay at Rishikesh for the time being. The ceremonial opening of the temple was witnessed by those pilgrims who had already reached Kedarnath.

Because of bad weather, the Uttarakhand government has closed fresh registrations for the Kedarnath pilgrimage until April 30th. The IMD has forecast snowfall and rain in the area until April 29th.

The Kedarnath temple is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level. This hill shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva is considered one of the holiest sites for Hindus. It is part of the famous Chota Char Dham Yatra which also consists of Gangotri, Yamunetri, and Badrinath.
