Pujara, Iyer Play Scintilating Knocks To Post 278 At Stumps Vs Bangladesh

Chattogram: Indian batters, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer played scintilating knocks to post 278 for 6 on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Wednesday.

Pujara (90) stitched a 149-run stand for the fifth wicket with Iyer to help India overcome a wobble in the first session when they lost three quick wickets.

Pujara hit 11 boundaries in his 90-run knock and was looking set for his 19th Test hundred before getting dismissed by a ripper from Taijul Islam in the final session.

The India team, led by KL Rahul, batted first but squandered the opportunity by allowing the Bangladesh bowlers to dominate the proceedings.

The batters who were dismissed were skipper Rahul (22), Shubman Gill (20), and Virat Kohli (1).

Taijul Islam claimed three wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck twice. Khaled Ahmed got the remaining one wicket that fell on the first day.
