Violence During Ram Navami in Diff Parts of India; Govt-Sponsored Riots, says Sanjay Raut

New Delhi: Violent group clashes broke out during Ram Navami processions in several parts of the country on Thursday.

In Bihar’s Munger, case was registered against 200 unidentified people after violence erupted during the Ram Navami procession.

Dispute over a Ram temple in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad on Wednesday led to attack on a police team and torching of several police vehicles on Thursday. Seven people were detained and cases registered against 500 people. A 51-year-old man injured during this rioting near the Ram temple in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad city, died during treatment at a hospital.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut in a statement termed the Ram Navami clashes as government-sponsored riots.

Violence and arson were reported from West Bengal’s Howrah district during Ram Navami festivities. Several vehicles were torched and shops were ransacked in the area. Another Ram Navami clash was reported in Bengal’s Dalkhola in which one person was killed and several others were injured.

Tension erupted in Karnataka’s Hassan when a Ram Navami procession reached a mosque on Baaguru Road, leading to clashes. Four persosn were reported to be stabbed during the clash.
