Youth Severs Elder Brother’s Body into 8 Parts, Arrested in Balangir

Balangir: The culprit behind the murder of a man whose mutilated body was recovered from his house at Salepalli village in Balangir district was arrested by police.

The arrested man was Shankar Bhawani Meher, the brother of the deceased named Rinku. The accused had chopped off the body of his brother into eight parts.

Shankar was looking after the family. His elder brother Rinku’s violent behavior towards other members of the family was irritating Shankar. Rinku had allegedly assaulted his father with a hammer.

On May 14, the accused, Shankar had an altercation with his elder brother Rinku. It is alleged that in a rage Shankar allegedly hacked Rinku to death. He then chopped off the body into eight parts for its disposal. But Shankar did not get a chance to dispose of the body on the day of the incident. He had the pieces inside the house.

Neighbours informed police when a foul smell started to come out of the house.

Police recovered the body pieces of the deceased packed in a gunny from the house locked from outside on May 17.

The murder was due to the ongoing family feud. The deceased’s father is hospitalized. No other member of the family was aware of the murder.
