BJP Look To Retain Seat As ECI Announces Dates For Dhamnagar By-Poll

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) declared on Monday that the by-polls for the Dhamnagar constituency in the Bhadrak district of Odisha would take place on November 3.

The precise gazette notification for the by-poll will be published on October 7 according to a press release from the ECI.

The deadline for candidate nominations is October 14. Similarly, October 15 and 17 have been designated as the deadlines for withdrawing candidatures and the date for the inspection of nominations, respectively.

The election will take place on November 3. While the counting of votes and publication of results is scheduled for November 6, November 8 is set as the date for the completion of the election process.

The death of incumbent BJP MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi, who passed away last month at 62 while receiving treatment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, has forced the need for the by-election.

The state ruling BJD and Congress have begun their campaigns to win the Dhamnagar by-election, while the saffron party aims to hold onto the seat.
