Aparajita Sarangi Alleges Land Grab Scandal Under Bureaucratic Patronage in Odisha; Calls For Govt Action

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has accused the BJD-led government of enabling land grabs facilitated by an ‘influential bureaucrat’ within the Chief Minister’s Office.

Sarangi revealed that approximately 150 acres of land have been enclosed with barbed wire in Bhagabatipur and Giringaput villages, affecting around 300 local farmers. She alleged that the land had been acquired by Kiruthika Pravakaran and her company, Triveni.

Sarangi said that the farmers have lost their land, jeopardizing their livelihoods. She also said that government employees have refused to intervene, citing an ongoing project.

Sarangi has written a letter to the Chief Minister, urging swift action against the unauthorized occupation of both government and private land. She has also asked the Chief Minister to personally visit the villages, take robust measures against encroachment, and initiate an investigation into the reasons compelling impoverished farmers to sell their land.

Sarangi warned that failure to provide satisfactory answers could escalate the villagers’ discontent and anger. She said that the government would bear responsibility if the issue remains unaddressed and the situation escalates further.
