Bandh in 11 Western Odisha Districts Demanding Separate Koshal State

Bhubaneswar: A bandh call by the Koshal Rajya Milita Karjyanushtan Committee disrupted normal life 11 western Odisha on Saturday. This bandh call is in support of the demand for a separate Koshal state.

This bandh call by the Koshal Rajya Milita Karjyanushtan Committee received support from several social organizations and political parties including the BJP.

In districts like Bargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, the protestors picketed early morning. The vehicular traffic was disrupted and shops, business establishments, educational institutions remained closed several parts of western Odisha districts for the bandh call.

The agitators claimed that problems of the western part of Odisha can be solved only when a separate state is created.

But there was little impact of the bandh in Sambalpur. The Hirakhand Samukhya and Sambalpuri Language & Culture Council opposed the bandh. The shops, schools and colleges were found open in Sambalpur town.
