Marriage Feast Turns Fatal, 1 Child Dies, 4 Critical of Food Poisoning in Malkangiri Dist

Malkangiri: Food poisoning allegedly caused by a marriage feast claimed the life of a child and four others were taken ill at Nuaguda village under Malkangiri district’s Mathili block.

The deceased and the injured are from the same family.

As per reports, Dhana Nali of Bandhaguda village attended a marriage feast along with her four children at the neighbouring Nuaguda village.

After returning from the feast, all of them developed symptoms of food poisoning. They were initially admitted to Mathili Community Health Centre (CHC) and were later shifted to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

One of the four children died while undergoing treatment at Malkangiri hospital. Others are still undergoing treatment.

As per reports, 25 others also fell sick after eating at the same marriage feast. But their condition was not that serious.

A medical team has reached the village and started an investigation into the incident. The team has collected samples of the food served at the feast for testing.
