School Principal Proposes To Student Over Whatsapp, Arrested in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The principal of a Higher Secondary School in Malkangiri district was arrested by the police for allegedly making indecent advances at a student.

The arrested accused was identified as Prasant Kumar Padhy, principal of MV79 Higher Secondary School. He was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, when the victim registered a complaint against him. The girl alleged that the principal made indecent an indecent romantic proposal to him.

As per the complaint lodged by the victim, the accused principal tried to lure her to have a relationship with him by offering to help her in the exams. He approached her over the Whatsapp and proposed love to her.

The student preferred to lodge a police complaint against the principal, following which, the erring teacher was arrested.
