Wild Leopard Mauls Woman to Death in Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: A woman was reported to be killed by a wild leopard in Odisha’s Nuapada district.

This woman from Siliaribahara village under the Sadar forest range of Nuapada district had entered the forest on Friday to collect forest produce. She did not return back home. Locals claimed that she was attacked and killed by a leopard.

Some villagers say they located mutilated body parts of the woman at different places in the forest. This has led to the spread of panic in the area.

Forest officials have reached the village to start an investigation. It is the second leopard attack death reported from the Nuapada district in the past few days.

On October 30, seven-year-old Dambaru Majhi of Katingpani village under Dharambandha police station in the district was dragged away by a wild leopard while he was playing in front of his house in the evening. Later the mutilated body of the boy was found within the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Forest department has deployed a special squad to trace and capture the big cat.
