Wild Bear Mauls Aged Man to Death in Sambalpur Dist

Sambalpur: An elderly person died in a wild bear attack at Talagaon village under the Redhakhol forest range in Sambalpur district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Abhimanyu Sethi. He had gone into a forest near the village when he was attacked by a wild bear.

Hearing his cry for help, villagers rushed to the spot to save him. The villagers tried to shoo away the wild bear by throwing stones at it. The bear escaped into the jungle leaving behind the seriously injured man. He was bleeding profusely from his injured eyes, face, back and other body parts.

Injured Sethi was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
